Surveys!

Last wednesday during advisory, the Principal Leadership Program (PLP) distributed survey's to the advisory. We distributed the surveys in the first floor and half of second floor while the thrid and other half of second floor were at lunch. We than switched floors when second lunch began. This required much team work because we had to know what advisorys had already been reached and which ones needed to be target. This worked out pretty good! It was a new experience for me last time the surveys got done after school unlike this year where we got the opportunity to do it in the different classrooms during school. I was impressed with the level of interest from students, in particular the freshman class. The students did not complain about taking the survey and seem to be take it in a serious manner which will have an impact on the results that will be presented in our report.

Surveys!

Hi Rosa,

I like the comparison you made to the survey process from last year.  What do you think were the pros and cons of each method?  I didn't realize the surveys were an after school only approach last year.  Was the response rate higher or lower this year?

It is also interesting to note your comment about the freshman class. Did the PLP students doing the administration stay in the advisory while the students answered?  I am very glad to hear that you felt the process was positively received in those advisories.  You are absoultely correct about the correlation between how serious students took the survey and the validity of the overall results.  As adults, we struggle with the same issues when a teacher survey is adminstered so I am happy to see that you realize that not all results necessarily prove the truth about an issue.
