New principal! (update on Tuesday 2/26/13)

After a week of vacation, the Principal Leadership Program (PLP) got right back to work. Since we now have a new principal at Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex (JSEC) it is in our plans to partner and build relationship with her. We met with her on Tuesday February 26, 2013. The group updated her on what we have been working on for the last two years and our plans to move foward. We concluded the meeting with a conversation about our plans of once again conducting a survey with the students in order to create a new report that will help us see the impact the program has had in the school and to see in what areas the school needs improvement.

Hi Rosa,
I am glad to see that you are ending your run in the PLP as an ELO student! It makes so much sense for you to do this since you put so much effort and time into the PLP thus far. It has been interesting to see and hear about the mix of "old" PLPs and the new 9th grade recruits. I am curious as to what advice you are going to give the new PLPs to maintain the momemtum that you have all started. Looking back, what do you wish PLP had done differently and what do you hope they accomplish in the year to come... when all of you are not there anymore!???
I look forward to sitting in on a meeting again in the coming weeks and seeing the crafting of the new survey.
Keep going

Rosa,
Glad to see that you are beginning to blog about this important work you and the other students are doing. I would encourage you, from time to time in your blogging, to reflect on some of the things you are learning about leadership in general. What are the lessons you'll take away for the future? What are these current activities preparing you for...in college, in your career, in your community?
Would love to know what it was like sharing an existing vision and with plan a new leader like Ms. Keegan. Anything you learned from that which will help you get others on board in future ventures?
Keep going...you and your team are doing great work.
Patrick

Mr. Duhon,
I have been involve in the Principal Leadership Program for about two years now and I have grown intoa leader in my school ever since. There are so many skills that I am taking away to college, which I gain from the program such as, public speaking, leadership, networking and from conducting survey to putting in data into survey monkey. I have to say that Ms. Keegan is very supportive of the program and I look foward to working with her and to help her as she helps us develop plans to improve the school!
Thank you,
Rosa Ramos
